I don’t know about the rest of you, but I had a great Thanksgiving weekend. And I was lazy for most of it. It was nice.
Then I had to get up this morning for work. That was not so nice. Not to mention, it is cold and rainy. So, today for lunch, since I hadn’t gone shopping, I had a hankering for some soup. I went to a little Chinese place in the mall for soup. They were sold out! The person told me they sold out in the morning, and they weren’t making any more. So much for Hot & Sour. Instead, I went to a restaurant and paid a little more for some soup. It was really good. (The empty parking lot at the mall was a big surprise though!)
I need to start making some soups! And stews! And hutsput! The weather is right for it. What do you like to eat when it gets cold?
Chili, white chili, Confetti Chili, potato soup, I just tried Campbells’ Creamy Chicken Noodle for the first time and loved it! Cambells’ minestrone, and also the Homestyle Chicken Noodle. Ummm…
I have alot of recipes.
Do you know how to make soup? Or do you get it out of the can?
No one at the mall because it is Cyber Monday. Everyone is shopping online!
um…what the heck is “hutsput”?
I LOVE, love love soup!!! That’s the only good thing about winter, if you ask me..
“no soup for you”
- soup nazi
Shades - Me too!
Mr. Fab - I am not above canned soup, but I prefer to make my own. I also don’t get as much salt in homemade soup, which is better for my water retention. Though, I still buy broth in the cans, because I have always heard it wasn’t worth the trouble of making your own.
VP - I may be doing most of my shopping online!
Beth - Hutsput is a Dutch dish that is a mix of carrots, potatoes and onions. I am pretty sure you can put other root vegetables in there, but in my family we only use carrots, potatoes and onions. It is all blended together, and served with a meat. It is very good!
Jen -
With the wind blowing about 30 miles an hour, I had a corn chowder kind of soup for lunch today! We still have some home made turkey noodle soup left, too!
Creamy tomato soup, with grilled cheese sandwiches..yum!
Buffalodickdy - I like to make a big batch and freeze it. We have had some wind down here too.
Trish - Soup and grilled cheese is an awesome meal. Though, I don’t eat tomato soup.
