Parents of geeky adult children have it easy now a days.
Here’s is what I mean. My mom told me (yeah, it wasn’t really a request, lol) to turn on MSN Messenger, so at least she knows that I am alive. We have a phone, but Dan and I screen the calls, and then I usually call my mom back on the cell phone. But if MSN Messenger is on, and a video call comes through, I usually feel obligated to take it, even if I am in the middle of something else.
Then there is this blog. If I haven’t posted for a while, then my mom will say something. She can so easily check up on me to make sure I am at least alive. She told me her secret for checking up on my brother too.
So, sometimes I ask her, “How did Oma check up on you every day?” I haven’t really gotten an answer on that one.
Anyway, I kept my computer on all weekend. When I turned off my computer last night, I saw MSN was off. All weekend. And yesterday, I took the day off, so it was a whole extra day of no MSN. And I haven’t blogged. But I did talk to my mom on Friday.
I guess I better call my mom tonight to tell her I am still alive.
we’ve missed you too
You better be careful or mama might take you out behind the wood shed! LOL
Ya know - mommy’s are weird that way… wanting to know if their children are dead or alive.
I KNEW you were screening my calls!
My mom hasn’t called me in months. I was trying to see how long it would take her but her Birthday came up and I HAD to call her first.
Dad thinks its funny but I don’t!
Well, hope you called by now!
And see if she is, too.
I tagged you, btw. After reading your most current post, maybe you won’t want to do it, but I think you will. lol It’s a good one.
Mel - Do you want to be on my IM list too?
Chuck - I wouldn’t be surprised!
Fantastagirl - That’s what the phone is for!
Mr. Fabulous - That’s you who keeps hanging up?
Metalmom - My mom and I talk all the time compared to you and your mom, it sounds like.
Slick - I talked to her yesterday.
Shelli - haha. I saw you tagged me and I will probably do it for Christmas. The latest post was just in good fun.
I love how if we don’t blog they think something is wrong. My mom does the same thing. I ask her what she did before I had a blog, worry all the time for no reason and she said yes.
