Two weeks ago, from this day, we started having car woes. I was driving back to work, after meeting Dan for lunch. I turn on the blinker, turn the corner, and the blinker sound keeps happening even though the light was off. It was just the noise. It happened a few times, to the point where the little blink-a, blink-a, blink-a noise was starting irritate me. I get back to work, and think nothing more of it.
So, that night, I get into the car, and the same thing happens. I call Dan and let him know. When I get to his work, he checks a few things, but the noise still happens. So, Thursday, Dan calls the repair place, and Friday, he brings the car to them.
Saturday, we go to pick up the car. Ah, only a day in the rental, this huge Pontiac covered with road salt. (It was very nasty.) We pay the bill (sweet mother of pearl, that’s expensive!) and get into the car. Dan turns on the blinker, and blink-a, blink-a, blink-a. Yep, it wasn’t fixed. Nice of them to check it. So, we go back in, tell them it’s not fixed, get the rental key again, and go home.
They call Monday, and say they missed the problem (Really? No shit!) and they had to order a part of it. But it wouldn’t be here until Wednesday. Great. A week without the car. Fortunately, Tuesday it rained so the salt got washed off the rental. Unfortunately, they called on Wednesday and said, “You know those strong wind storms we had? Well, your car blew away!” Then, after saying he was kidding, he told us that the storms prevented the part from coming in. So, we would have to wait until Thursday.
So, Thursday, Dan wasn’t feeling well, since he developed a cold, and he went home to rest. After he slept the day away, he went to pick up the car. Ah, Eureka! It’s fixed.
Then Dan told me the difference in the bill. Holy frickin’ sweet mother of pearl, that was expensive. It’s obvious that Dan went into the wrong line of work. He should have been a mechanic!
And that is the boring tale of our car blinker going wonky.
Wow… all that for just a blinker on the blink…
OMG!! I was on the edge of my seat! Will it get fixed? Will the part get through? Will Lynda have to resucitate Dan??
You write great thrillers!!
Justmetalking - Yeah, it was an epic saga.
MetalMom - Sarcasm will get you nowhere. lol!
Ours, if you leave the blinker on too long, it starts to ding. Did it do that, too? Cause that would REALLY be annoying.
I like the blinker noise, its very soothing. But here is SC you wouldnt have had to get it fixed, no one ever uses them. I hate driving here!
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
do you hear something?
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
blink-a, blink-a, blink-a
Shelli - No, it just made the noise. It was weird. And apparently defective.
Mel - I don’t notice it unless it has been going for a while. It’s fun to drive with my dad. He forgets to turn it off, so I end up reminding him a lot. Maybe he finds it soothing too!
Jen - hahahaha! That made me laugh.
This would drive me crazy. I can’t stand it when I see one else’s blinker on for a long time and I am in the car with them let along endure that sound. Glad you got it fixed but what a pain in the patoohie!
