So, what’s the deal with Twitter? Will someone explain it to me, cause it seems like almost every blog I visit has a link that has some sort of Twitter information. People who said they weren’t going to join when it first came out have even gotten on the bandwagon.
Is this like Facebook, which I never really got into? Is it a mass IM thing? I honestly can’t imagine my life is so interesting that people really care what I am doing right now. (For the record, right now I am blogging.) I mean, what do you consider twat, tweet or twit worthy, or whatever you call it. The other day, when I was looking at myself in the mirror and thought my boobs were hanging a bit low and then I realized I never adjusted my new bra. Do I put stuff like that in there? Cause really, I think that was only amusing myself. Though I am happy my boobs look better now that I am adjusted. Anyway, this isn’t about my boobs. I have read some of the Twitterings and I just want to know what the fascination is.
Can someone explain it?

I don’t know, I don’t get it either. A few weeks ago I thought I would check it out to see what all the hubub was about, and when I saw what it was, I thought, wha?? WTF? Is this IT? Who the heck is on this thing?? Everyone else, apparently…
I had some advice, but then you mentioned boobs.
Mmm…boobs.
I am currently scratching my head at this too. Wanna see what was under my fingernail when I finished? Oh and lemon pepper or regular pepper. Do you care? I’ll totally join twitter if you give a shit!
Have a good weekend!
I used to think that way too but decided to give it a try and I really like it. I would’ve actually laughed if you’d typed that in Twitter about your boobs.
I did not know anything about it either but found it thorugh Shades’ blog. I belong and I am not even sure what it is. I tried to explain it to my husband and couldn’t. I don’t know how long I will be on it since I don’t have time to update it as much as everyone else. And if I am on the computer I am blogging any way so there is no need to Twitter. And I am NOT hooking it up to my phone because I am sure the cost would get enormous.
So I am trying it out, not really getting it, but doing it more today since I can’t seem to get into Blogger and am pulling my hair out…
I love it….I get the updates on my phone and I just love feeling connected,
I would have loved it if you had twittered about your boobs too, thats funny stuff. I have unlimited texts with my plan so i dont think its going to be expensive. I hope. LOL
Oh, man! You are funny today!
Pixie sent me the Twitter e-vite, but The Bloggess had already made me aware of it’s presence.
Blakbyrd - It almost seems like mass text messaging.
Mr. Fab - Boobs!
Metalmom - So you haven’t signed up? I may. I am not sure yet. I’ll send you an email if I do.
BlondeBlogger - How much do you use it?
VP - Well, it sounds like mass IM or mini blogging in a way.
Mel - I hope it isn’t that expense too! hehe
Shades - So how much do you use it?
Actually it is far more interesting than Facebook. It is an open-to-the-public IM system and once you get enough followers, there always seems to be someone on to “chat with.” It is is good for a quick chat or quick question with some random person — much different than the more personal blog comment or email. It is pretty superficial, but it can actually be addictive, because you can just jump into any person’s conversation already in progress…
It’s a fun little thing. Even my Mom likes reading my twitter updates. I’ll mention that Gideon is napping and she knows not to call for awhile.
I think it’s for people who are a bit self-absorbed, but I run the risk of alienating some by saying that. Who really gives a shit what someone was doing “8 minutes ago”? Is someone really that important that they think people care? I honestly don’t get it either.
Facebook is a nice way to stay connected with peeps. I also think Facebook does a good job of weeding out fake accounts, unlike MySpace. That’s just my two cents.
Neil - Thanks! Your answer helped a lot.
*pixie* - Well, I decided to give it a try.
Egan - I can see that point of view. Then again, some people could say the same thing about blogging. I did end up signing up. Curiosity always gets the better of me.
Hmm, I suppose you could say the same about blogging, but I’m not sure most people’s lives are that interesting where 3-4 daily updates warrant attention. Now I’m going to shut up.
I respect that point of view. I certainly don’t feel I am that interesting.
